Payment Links Bridge Breakdowns in Customer Digital Journeys

Products and services bought on websites mostly have fixed offerings at a fixed price. A seat on a specific flight costs x. Should a customer require something that the digital offering does not have, like a group booking, then the Customer journey moves away from the website to email, chat or the call centre. Once the Customer’s request is understood and the price agreed, a simple payments link can complete the journey. Organisations are relying more and more on their digital channels for revenue generation. Payment links have been successfully used in email commerce for a while.

iVeri Integrates Halo Dot, Driving Innovation in the Mobile Point of Sale

iVeri has announced that it has completed integration with software and consulting company Synthesis Software Technologies to increase the opportunities available to businesses using software-based Point of Sale (SoftPOS) across Africa and the Middle East.

Synthesis became the first Tap on Phone solution provider in Africa when it launched Halo Dot with Nedbank in June 2020. This launch was facilitated by iVeri integrating the solution into its MPress mobile app, with payment processing through the iVeri Gateway. MPress with Halo Dot has been approved and certified by major card brands for Tap on Phone.

iVeri & Nedbank’s ‘Tap-on-phone’ – a first in Africa – empowers SMMEs with safe and secure contactless payments

At the height of the global Covid-19 pandemic, Nedbank became the first bank to offer small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) the ability to turn their cellphones into a payment acceptance device with the launch of its Tap-on-phone functionality in October 2020.

Following a successful closed pilot in June, the easily downloadable app has empowered a number of merchants and business owners with the ability to accept card payments on their cellphones without having to purchase point-of-sale (POS) devices. Merchants include beauty parlours, hairdressers and car washes, proving the importance of such a solution for small to medium sized enterprises in South Africa.

iVeri, Nedbank and Synthesis new ‘tap on phone’ – a first in Africa – enables safe and secure contactless payments

30 June 2020 – Nedbank has unveiled its new tap-on-phone functionality that allows all merchants and business owners to convert their mobile phones into payment acceptance devices.

Tap on phone makes it easier for small- and medium-sized businesses to use their compatible smartphones to accept quick, easy, and secure, payments from their customers for goods or services. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic facing the world we have all been sensitised to the need for social distancing, which has impacted all areas of our lives, including how we transact on a day-to-day basis. The tap-on-phone functionality enables contactless payment acceptance and there’s no health risk to the merchant or customer.

IndiGo goes Mass Transit

Mass transit is not something many African payment facilitators can get involved in. This is mainly because there are not many mass transit systems on the continent and most of those that are using closed-loop payment systems. So when iVeri was commissioned to add open-loop contactless card acceptance to South Africa’s Gautrain system was a challenge we embraced.

The project entailed integrating IndiGo, our integrated multi-lane product to the existing turnstiles and payment management system supplied by Thales, and then linking this to Nedbank for processing.

After an extensive pilot period, the system went live on 31 October this year and has been running smoothly ever since. Take up is good and especially convenient to foreigners who now do not need to buy and fund the proprietary Gautrain Card.

What we are especially proud of is that the operators of Gautrain and Thales backed African IP for this solution. It also demonstrated the versatility of our IndiGo product and the iVeri Payment Gateway.
